Tania

Hi, I am Tania

At the age of 17 I left secondary school & became a time served hairdressing apprentice. By the age of 23 I worked my way up the ladder to manageress. I decided to go mobile & it was then when I first dabbled in nail technology.

I first did a short course 25 years ago & then went on to do my VTCT qualifications in manicure, pedicure, nail technology, nail art & years later did my beauty therapy qualification. After 4 years of mobile I decided to do teacher training.

I got a temporary position covering maternity teaching hairdressing at Michaeljohn training for a few weeks, then was offered my first permanent teaching post at Tameside College. My main duties were to teach City & Guilds nail technology in the evening, (which did change to VTCT) nail art, Btec nail technology to full time learners & Level 2 hairdressing. While working at Tameside I was offered 3 other Lecturing roles specialising in nail technology.

I then taught nail technology at City college & Bolton College to learners on a full time beauty therapy course during the day. Then taught nail technology & nail art 3 evenings per week at Blackpool & the Fylde college & Bolton College. After some time I left & went to teach hairdressing level 2 & 3 & key skills at Gary Anthony in Leigh. While at Gary Anthony I was offered a teaching position part time at Preston College, teaching manicure, pedicure, nail art, nail technology, hairdressing, key skills & beauty therapy etc. The position at Preston eventually became full time and I left Gary Anthony.

After some years I left Preston & pursued a job teaching in the community with the Lancashire women’s net work by offering hair & beauty sessions to ladies only in various community centres. After some time Accrington & Rossendale College offered me a similar role teaching nail art Level 2 in the community.

The role involved teaching to the homeless, drugs & alcohol centres, vulnerable adults & other sectors of this nature. I thoroughly loved my job as it took me to new dimensions and I loved the challenges set. I also taught nail services & Level 2 beauty therapy to 19+ learners. Having finishing at Accrington & the LWN, I now work for Athena Beauty Spa Training Centre teaching nail technology and beauty therapy to small groups of learners.
