This one day training course will provide you with the skills to perform a full body (including abdominal) massage for women during pregnancy. Massage during this special time will help alleviate the symptoms associated with pregnancy and be of great benefit to both mother and baby. As well as learning the full body massage routine you will learn how to position the client so they are as comfortable as they can be during the massage using the side lying position and how to use towels for draping the client.  You will learn about the changes that take place during pregnancy and the extra contraindications associated with pregnancy massage as well as extra pressure point techniques that can help with some common problems associated with pregnancy such as morning sickness and muscle cramps. Feel good endorphin’s are released in the mothers body during pregnancy, these are then passed onto the baby. Research has shown that mothers who have regular pregnancy massage have shorter birth times and require less pain relief during labour.

(This is also a side lying massage routine to add to your therapy list. Idea for clients who can not have the typical Swedish massage)

Students must hold a body massage qualification including anatomy and physiology

Continual assessments orally and practically take place during the day.
